    Halo Effect: Barriers To Perception

When a single dominant characteristic of a person becomes the basis for judging all the characteristics of a person it is known as “halo effect”. For eg if an orator makes an enthusiastic or energetic appearance then people may judge him by this very characteristic and leave all others aside when making a report. This occurs most often when the traits perceived are of short duration. The orator may have an altogether different characteristic, but as he has disappeared from the public eye after a short meeting, the impression created will remain with people whenever they judge him.
